Dress Code

General admission enables you to enjoy a drink or two in the Sports Bar, check out your favourite horse at the Parade Ring, then move quickly to the Terraces, from which you can see the action up close as the horses rush to the Winning Post.

The dress code is an important part of the racing experience. General admission is informal and casual though vests and bare tops are not permitted. However, do dress up and embrace the racing experience – Ladies, feel free to wear your hats!

We ask that you kindly do not wear:

* Fancy dress is allowed at Chelmsford City Racecourse on all days. We do however reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone deemed to be dressed inappropriately or likely to cause offence. If your party is considering wearing fancy dress, in order to avoid any disappointment on the day, we recommend that you call the Racecourse prior to the raceday on 01245 360 300.

In the event of one or all or your party being refused admission, no refund will be offered.

In the Club Restaurant, smart attire is required – defined as follows:

Gentlemen are required to wear collared shirt, jacket and tie.

Ladies should dress for a smart occasion.

Smart jeans are allowed however they must not be ripped or torn.

We ask that you kindly do not wear trainers or shorts (to include tailored shorts)

General admission standards apply with the exception that we ask that you do not wear trainers when dining in our Fairwood Restaurant.

If the appropriate clothing is not worn you could be asked to leave the enclosure.
