The brand new facilities provide a wonderful setting from which to anchor your raceday experience. The Grandstand boasts two restaurants, one ideal for families, friends and corporate events, the other, a more formal environment and perfect to celebrate special occasions. The restaurants are complimented by the lively Sports Bar area offering various raceday packages and bars for general admission.
In terms of prize money offered to our racing connections, Chelmsford City Racecourse consistently achieves its aim of sitting near the top of the table with regard to value and the course is reaping the rewards by hosting competitive races with large fields of runners.
Non-raceday events for 2016 include concerts, comedy and murder mystery nights, wedding and antiques fairs and a whole host more, details of all of these events can be found under our “Venue Hire” tab.
Coming up over the next couple of months we have our inaugural “Catwalk at the Course” on 8th October where a host of local and national designers will be showcasing their finest trends for the upcoming seasons. Following this we will be staging a racing themed Murder Mystery night (12th November), will you be able to solve the “Tale of the Dark Horse”?

The Arabian Racing Organisation Season Finale, which for the first time, has been combined with the popular Sultanate of Oman Race Day has received 85 declarations. With 73 Purebred Arabians running in seven of the nine races, this is the largest number for an ARO domestic fixture this season.
The nine race card, which includes two ARO Thoroughbred races, promises to be a great day out, with free entry for spectators at Chelmsford City Racecourse on Sunday 25 September.
In addition to the racing, there will be a parade of the HM The Queen’s Purebred Arabian stallions, Mlolshaan and Tuwaisan, who were gifted to Her Majesty by HM The King of Bahrain from his own private collection. These Purebred Arabian stallions also took part in the Queen’s birthday celebrations at Windsor earlier this year.
There will also be Henna artists available and a chance to sample the culture of the Sultanate of Oman in the Royal Cavalry’s traditional hospitality tent.
Our 2016 fixture list is packed full of exciting racedays but we want you to know we do other events too!
Racing every Thursday until Christmas with live entertainment in the sports bar after racing. During October we have the fun casino where you could win a VIP racing package followed by a VIP night at the casino.
